March 2017 Monthly Meet-up with Queer Strike

Thursday, 9 March 2017 - 7:00pm - 9:00pm

Location: London Friend - 86 Caledonian Rd, Kings Cross, London N1 9DN

For this month's meet-up, we are very pleased to welcome Didi Rossi, from Queer Strike, as our guest speaker. Didi will be speaking about recent campaigns and work that Queer Strike is involved in and how we can make connections across struggles.

About the Monthly Meetings:

The Bent Bars Project runs a monthly meet-up for current and prospective penpals, to introduce new people to the project, discuss issues and plan events related to the project.  Sometimes we host guest speakers or screen films or other events. The monthly meeting is always held on the 2nd Thursday of the month in London from 7-9pm.

Come and get ideas about writing to a prisoner for the first time. Find out about how to get matched with a prisoner who is looking for a penpal. Or if you already have a penpal, the meeting provides space to ask questions and discuss any issues that come have come up. You can also find out about getting more involved in the project in other ways - whether it's working on our next newsletter, getting involved in outreach, helping with fundraising, collecting resources or helping with the general day to day tasks of the organising collective.

Usually the first half the meeting of the meeting is to welcome new people and to discuss any issues that have come up for penpals and the second half of the meeting is to do planning/organsing for events and other things we are working on. We also host speakers, screen films and run other special events at this meetings. So feel free to come for part or all of the evening - all are welcome!

Our meetings are currently held in London, but if you'd like to host a meeting in your own area, get in touch and we can help you set one up.

Future meeting dates: April 13th, May 11th, June 8th, July 13th
